The Egyptian Human Rights Forum (EHRF) co-organized a powerful side event titled “The Cost of Silence: Testimonies on the Price of Inaction in Egypt's Human Rights Crisis” on the sidelines of the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The event was held in collaboration with the Committee for Justice (CFJ) and other Egyptian human rights organizations.<\/p>\n

The discussion shed light on the deteriorating human rights situation in Egypt, highlighting the human, social, and political costs of international inaction, particularly in the context of Egypt\u2019s Universal Periodic Review (UPR).<\/p>\n

EHRF\u2019s Executive Director, Samar Elhusseiny, delivered a powerful intervention on the systematic persecution of human rights defenders, including cross-border repression, the targeting of families of detainees, and the use of counter-terrorism laws to silence dissent.<\/p>\n

This event formed part of joint advocacy efforts to raise awareness of the cost of global silence and to demand stronger, principled action to support victims, ensure accountability, and end impunity.<\/p>\n
